Cookie Policy

Cookies & Tracking

A short, honest account of the cookies Focusly sets, what each one does, and how to turn off anything you would rather not have.

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Focusly uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and in our app. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device. They let a site remember things between visits — that you are signed in, which theme you chose, whether you have already dismissed a banner.

Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you clear them.

3. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in between sessions, remember interface preferences such as theme and sidebar state, measure which features get used so we can improve them, and keep the service secure against abuse.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.

4. Types of Cookies We Use

Focusly groups cookies into four categories. Only the first is strictly required.

Essential cookies

Required for the service to function — authentication, session integrity, load balancing, and security. These cannot be switched off, because without them you could not sign in.

Analytics cookies

Help us understand how the product is used in aggregate — which pages get visited, where people get stuck, how long focus sessions run. Data is aggregated and not used to identify you individually.

Functional cookies

Remember your choices so the product feels consistent — language, timezone, theme, and layout preferences. Turning these off will not break Focusly, but you may have to re-set preferences each visit.

Marketing cookies

Used only on our public marketing site to measure whether a campaign brought someone to us. They are off by default and set only if you accept them.

5. Third-Party Cookies

A few trusted providers set cookies through Focusly: our analytics provider, our payment processor during checkout, and our support widget. Each acts under contract and is limited to the purpose we engaged them for.

A current list of these providers and their own cookie policies is available at [Subprocessor List URL].

Embedded content — a video on our blog, for example — may set its own cookies governed by that provider's policy.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can change your choices at any time through the cookie settings link in our footer, or by clearing and blocking cookies in your browser settings.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies from their privacy or security settings. Instructions differ by browser and version.

Blocking essential cookies will stop you from signing in. Blocking the other three categories has no effect on core functionality.

7. Changes to This Cookie Policy

When we add or remove a cookie we update this page and revise the date above. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect.

8. Contact Us

Questions about cookies can go to [Privacy Contact Email]. For the broader picture, see our Privacy Policy.
